The Balfin Group is the largest privately owned company in Albania. Known for its innovation, Balfin was the first company to develop the concept of chain stores in Albania, the first to develop a shopping mall and the first to develop a Logistics park.
It was founded in 1993 by Mr. Samir Mane who is the Group’s President and CEO. Initially Mr. Mane started trading electronic goods based in Vienna and developed the Neptun chain of retail electronic stores in Albania and expanded these stores to the neighboring countries. In 2005 Mr. Mane launched the first and most successful shopping mall in Albania, “QTU” and at the same time developed the first chain of Albanian grocery stores and hypermarket, called Euromax. Euromax was later purchased by the Delta Group of Serbia in 2008. The Fashion Group, with over 10 brands, is Albania’s largest retailer of fashion and apparel. With more than 1000 employees located in Albania and the region, Balfin is one of Albania’s largest private companies.
Balfin is now expanding its activities by building a larger shopping mall located 4 km east of the city center. A €48 mln investment, Tirana East Gate will have over 38.000m2 of gross leasable area and will become the destination shopping area for Tirana. It is expected to open in Spring 2011. Skopje City Mall is another shopping mall being developed in Skopje with some of Balfin’s existing partners. Skopje City Mall will also have around 38 000 m2 of retail space and is expected to open in Spring of 2012. Total investment planned for Skopje City Mall is around €68 mln. Tirana Logistics Park is 200.000m2 facility that will offer 80.000m2 of class A warehouse space for Tirana and the region. It will be developed in phases and the first phase is expected to be complete in mid 2011. Total investment costs are planned to be €44 mln.
Rolling Hills Villas will continue Balfin’s innovative development. At an estimated €40 mln project, the 110 luxury Villas will set a benchmark in Albania for high end residential development. Prior to construction the development was nearly 50% presold.
Balfin is developing other residential projects including developments beside the ocean and several apartment buildings within Tirana.
